On Wednesday, January 17, 2001 my friend Bill Jones died.

Bill was the victim of an especially malevolent and inoperable brain tumor and, although he had the best of care at Cedars Sinai, he was unable to recover from constant complications and setbacks due to the tumors aggressive growth.

This site is a memorial tribute to Billy Beer, aka 10 Dollar Bill, aka William Lager, aka Sid. In the coming months I'll be updating the site with your Bill Jones Memories and adding more photos as I find them.
Note: Click on any photo for a bigger Bill.

If you have a photo or memory to share, please email me at gregory@bevcoworld.com., or sign the Guestbook at the bottom of the page. All photos will be scanned and returned promptly.

Thanks—Gregory Bevington

He only takes the best

God saw he was getting tired
and a cure was not to be,
So He put His arms around him
and whispered "come with Me".

With tear filled eyes we watched
him suffer, and slowly fade away.
Although we loved him deeply
we could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating
hard working hands put to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

Bill Jones
aka Sid,
aka Billy Beer,
aka 10 Dollar Bill,
aka William Lager

Punk, Rocker, Celtic Savage, Sophisticated “Man About Town”, his Mother’s only son.

Sex Pistols, Ramones, Alice Cooper, the Jungle Book Soundtrack.

Tattooed superpunk from the Southbay, Bill Jones was all these things and more. Indomitable spirit, irresistible smile, Bill could seem like the most cheerful man alive. Want to make him happier? Give him a beer.

For those that knew him, his absence leaves a specific kind of hole, one that can only be filled by the likes of Bill. The world needs men like Bill, and now there’s one less.

Rest in peace Bill. You will be missed.
